Murphy’s Sign Test Instructions

1. Patient lies on back, knees bent

2. As patient inhales, slowly insert fingertips     under ribcage on right side 3-4” from xiphoid

3. Discomfort = swollen gallbladder

Positive Murphy’s sign test use Beta-TCP or Beta Plus when there is no gallbladder or stools are light or clay colored.
